World of Warcraft began improvement in 1999, nearly 23 years ago, and the foundation for its story was underlying parallel with Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos and its resulting expansion pack, The Frozen Throne. The world of Azeroth expected to develop, and the degree expected to broaden to accommodate the demands of a MMO, and however World of Warcraft had developed past its franchise's strategy game roots, it actually draws upon the foundations worked in Warcraft 3 right up 'til the present time.
Now and then, and perhaps especially so for a game whose story had been as enduring as the World of Warcraft saga has been, it isn't surprising to find storytelling patterns within the game's overall narrative - arcs and themes that appear in one expansion, that eventually get referred to and deduced in another. Perhaps the clearest example is World of Warcraft: Legion finally wrapping up the plotline of Sargeras and his devil generals introduced in Warcraft 3.
A World of Warcraft player named Solicct saw this theme in 2017 and extrapolated it to account for future expansions down the road, and the outcomes have been surprisingly accurate. The player set forward the idea that The Burning Crusade introduced two separate themes within its overarching storyline: that of Draenor, and that of the Burning Legion. Warlords of Draenor became the expansion that finished up one thread, while Legion became the expansion that closed the other.
By following this rationale, Solicct claimed that the next two expansions would follow the themes introduced in Wrath of the Lich King. Namely, that one expansion would finish up the Old Gods theme put into high gear through Yogg-Saron and Ulduar, while the latter would zero in on the Lich King and the realm of Death. Looking back, obviously Battle for Azeroth and Shadowlands are an ideal match, according to the criteria set forward by the post.
Which makes one wonder of what this means for the future expansion yet unannounced. In his original post, composed a couple of months before Battle of Azeroth was announced, Solicct proceeded to say that the expansion after Shadowlands would have a Dragon theme, considering that Cataclysm's storyline dealt with two primary arcs: that of Dragons, and that of the Elemental Lords. He unquestionably introduced the idea that the expansion after would therefore deal with the Elemental Lords, and close both of these plotlines.

Considering that reports are heavily pointing towards a Dragon Isles expansion for World of Warcraft, apparently Solicct's expectation has sounded valid each and every time hitherto. On the off chance that this pattern is to be accepted, the expansions that come after would involve the Elemental Lords, the Horde and Alliance war, before concluding with the Void Lords at last. Obviously, it could in all likelihood be a happy coincidence - yet until the expansions get officially announced, the accuracy of Solicct's speculation will remain an object of intrigue.
