Overwatch fans are usually vocal about the things that they do and don't want from the legend shooter. As such, it is not too surprising that some feedback has been given ahead of the following Overwatch Archives occasion.
While many fans are presently experiencing Overwatch's Year of the Tiger occasion and collecting or criticizing its new outfits, some have already directed their concentration toward Archives 2022. Archives used to be one of the most anticipated events for the game, as it brought new center missions and outfits based on characters' backstories to the local area. Last year, however, no new missions came, and lore-specific skins were no place to be seen. Clearly, gamers don't want history to repeat itself when the occasion drops in a couple of months' time.
While it is far-fetched for Overwatch's next Archives occasion to get another community mission, as Blizzard is reasonable more focused on the sequel's PvE campaign, lore-based skins are a possibility - especially after the reaction to the last batch of outfits. Not exclusively was the "Karen Mercy" skin censured for its design, yet players were let somewhere around the decision to focus on history-focused outfits for the characters that saw them dressing like soldiers from old conflicts. While the skins were not bad fundamentally, players like Spktra want the Archives occasion to give new insight into the characters through outfits attached to their lore.

In their Reddit post, Spktra featured six potential lore skins that the Overwatch people group could get instead of more history-based cosmetics. Scientist Sigma is taken from his character intro, Squire-in-training for Brigitte looks at her sparring with Reinhardt, and "Wanted" Ashe gives her a casual attire. Talon Moira and Reaper are also requested, as is a stone statue based on Zenyatta. All these looks stand out based on what is in the game, with the most probable additions being Brigitte's training outfit and Sigma's scientist attire. With the two outfits being worn by the characters in their origin stories, they would fit well in the following Archives occasion.
Thus far, the post has gotten thousands of upvotes and hundreds of comments supporting the idea. While they believe the history theme will return by and by, AForce5223 likes lore skins in excess of a majority of what is offered and hopes that make a comeback. They also suggest alternate universe outfits like D.Va's Junker skin, which gives her a post-apocalyptic attire similar to Junkrat and Roadhog. For now, players should wait and see what course Blizzard will take with the upcoming occasion.
