Ask basically anyone who was a gamer during the 1990s what their favorite release was, and there's a decent chance many will say Ocarina of Time for the N64. In fact, the 1998 Legend of Zelda game is viewed as one of the most incredible Nintendo 64 releases of all time, and understandably. It's viewed as such a classic that a few fans have been hard busy working attempting to carry the game to PC.
According to a new report from VGC, an improvement team calling themselves "Harbor Masters" is around 90% finished with porting Ocarina of Time to PC, so as to perhaps finishing it in February and releasing it soon after that. The noteworthy thing about this is that, not just have the fans been chipping away at it since "December last year," yet they are achieving their goal by utilizing a fully picked apart form of the game's code. Combined with the fact that this task, which they are calling "Boat of Harkinian," doesn't utilize the original's assets, it should hopefully be to a lesser degree a legal disturbance whenever it's released.

This kind of picking apart is by all accounts somewhat of a gray area with regards to copyright encroachment. Take-Two sued programmers who decompiled GTA codes to make their own game. What the fate of "Boat of Harkinian" will be remains to be seen, however hopefully, the team has done all that it can to make sure that the game doesn't tread on the legal toes of the original, and that it will not bring about the powerful wrath of Nintendo's law department.
This is also not the initial time the classic Legend of Zelda game has been remade in this way by fans. Last November, a team called Zelda Reverse Engineering Team, or ZRET, completed picking apart Ocarina of Time, a task they'd been buckling down on for almost two years. At the time of that report, this fan-made game was said to be around 98% complete, so it appears as though there are two local area lead remakes that could be not far off.
With modders recreating Ocarina of Time assets in Unreal Engine 5, making the now-dated, yet at the same time beloved, title look staggering and present day, obviously there are a many individuals out there that actually have a ton of adoration to provide for this N64 release. It could be nearly a quarter of exceptionally old at this point, yet obviously the fans want to see this game return into the public eye.
