Despite Blizzards Overwatch turning five years old in 2021, the first-person shooter title continues to inspire content creation from its art community. This is seen in how fans still make concept art of their favorite Overwatch heroes, while others show their admiration by literally dressing up as some of the game's characters. Recently, another Overwatch fan drew the popular tank hero D.Va, using techniques that gave the character a softer, more casual demeanor.
Although most of the characters from the base games were confirmed to be part of the upcoming Overwatch 2 sequel, not much information has been shared about Korean pro gamer D.Va. Recent news from the dev team speaks of updated skins and reworks for heroes like Sombra and Bastion. Reports also say that Mei, the damage dealer, will also undergo changes in Overwatch 2. Given that D.Va is one of the most well-known Overwatch characters, fans are likely to be surprised and curious as to why the development team hasn't announced anything about her. However, the love for the character of D.Vas remains strong in the Overwatch community.
Redditor KazyHnin showed this with his beautiful hero artwork. The artist shared a drawing of D.Va that they created with Adobe Photoshop. Instead of donning her familiar mecha leather suit, D.Va wears a simple blue tank top, which gives her a more casual look. However, he retains his iconic gaming headset that fans love to dress up as his character with, and his noticeable pink markings on his cheeks. Fans would undoubtedly recognize the Overwatch hero for these basic character elements in his concept art and basic appearance.

Many comments in the thread praised the artwork for how detailed the fan art was. Some even suggested to the artist that they share the artwork on other subReddit threads. Redditor also confirmed that they used various texture brushes to achieve the unique look they gave D.Va. On Instagram, fans will likely notice that this isn't KazyHnins' first artwork of a video game or anime character. They have also drawn beautifully detailed portraits of Kaine from Nier Replicant, Princess Zelda from Breath of the Wild, and even Tsukino Usagi from Sailor Moon.
As developers slowly begin to release more details about Overwatch 2, unique artworks like KazyHnins are likely to be shared within the Overwatch community. Hopefully, many of them will also be inspired by the game's sequel, as many of the original heroes will return with new appearances and features.
